CALL FOR PAPERS: Special issue of The Journal of Social, Evolutionary and Cultural Psychology on Applied Evolutionary PsychologyDeadline for Submission: December 15, 2011 (earlier submissions encouraged)
- Guest Editors: Daniel J. Kruger (University of Michigan) & Nick Armenti (University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey)
In April 2011, the first formal meeting of the Applied Evolutionary Psychology Society preceding the annual meeting of the NorthEastern Evolutionary Psychology Society at Binghamton University. This event demonstrated the growing interest in the application of Evolutionary Psychology to purposes beyond the basic science typical of academic research projects.
We are seeking manuscripts on the application of Evolutionary Psychology to inform real-world practical challenges. These include areas such as mental health, health promotion, education, community, social, and environmental problems, public policy, and organizational, business, and marketing applications. Manuscripts may be based on an original project or may summarize existing literature. The content may be theoretical, empirical, or a combination of both. Although we will consider manuscripts in allied areas such as Darwinian Medicine, we are most interested in applications that specifically incorporate psychological aspects. Authors should be careful to focus on the translation of evolutionary insights for solving problems, rather than research for the sake of advancing theory without clear, direct practical applications.
Prospective contributors are encouraged to contact the guest editors to enquire about the suitability of a given topic for the special issue. Contributions are received with the understanding that their content is unpublished material and is not being submitted or under review for publication elsewhere.
Authors should submit manuscripts via email to Daniel J. Kruger at kruger@umich.edu. Manuscripts must be prepared using the JSEC Submission Template (downloadable from: http://www.jsecjournal.org) as a Word document in English. JSEC follows the simplified APA format, as in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association: Sixth Edition. In your Cover Letter, please clearly indicate that the submission is intended for the Special issue on Applied Evolutionary Psychology.
